Man, this stuff is so trivial. Can't we get past it? Only two chapters of the Bible (Genesis 1-2) are spent on where we were, and one chapter (Genesis 3) how we fell. The rest of the Bible shows God's story of redemptive history; the amazing saga of a God who refuses to let the hatred of His children for Him stop His plan to redeem them.
Memo to Christians: Let's put the focus on the future, not the past. (Not to say at all that history is unimportant, or that we shouldn't learn about Creation... heck, the Incarnation is an historical event, and it's only the heart of our faith. But there's a difference between having a comprehensive understanding of how we got here, and living in the past.)
I saw a bumper sticker you should try and get:
"My boss is a Jewish carpenter."
I like that one, I've seen it around (Grand Rapids is the buckle of the Bible Belt--we have every kind of Christian thing imaginable).

Surely you must appreciate the foundational need for a firm grasp of the Genesis story? People often divide the Bible up into the story of Creation / Fall / Redemption. Creation / Fall both occur in those first three chapters - maybe we could spend a little time on them?

I'm more reacting to the Christian community's continually dwelling on the issue of creation and evolution. Plus the fact that I had pretty much the same class my senior year of high school (Christian, of course) and that the class is at 8 in the morning (I wrote the entry during the class and posted it later without revision, and I'm always cranky before 10 AM...).
